Week 5 |
|
|
|
Game: |
#6 Diamond Dawgs (3-2)
vs.
#9 Tri-City Tarheels (1-2) |
Diamond Dawgs by 6 |
|
Analysis: |
The Dawgs are a team that are starting
to become a bit tricky to picky. Picked them against the rookie
Hogs and they got whipped, picked them against a winless Blue Streaks
team and they couldn't preserve the lead and the victory ... so they're
up against a Tarheel team that in the three games they've played, have
been two (actually three) completely different teams, easily beat a team
they should have, played Simply Amazin' as best as anyone has this
season, and then looked pitiful against, of all teams, the Ale House.
So that makes this a tough pick because either of these teams will have
a good day or a bad day and now-a-days we just don't know which.
If all pieces to each team show, this one could produce some fireworks!
But I'm going to have to go with the Diamond Dawgs, because they are due
for a win and really need to save some face after getting beat by the
Blue Streaks. Funny how a season or two ago that statement would
have been acceptable and expected. |

Week 5 |

|
|
Game: |
#9 Tri-City Tarheels (1-2)
vs.
#11 Rombo Diablos (1-4) |
Rombo Diablos by 3 |
|
Analysis: |
Not sure why I've lost so much faith in
the Tarheels after such a promising finish to last season and a so-so
hot start to this season, but....Diablos, I'm only picking you by
default. |

Final: |
9 - 6 Rombo Diablos |

Week 5 |
|
|
|
Game: |
#3
Arsenal (2-1)
vs.
#10 Blue Streaks (1-3) |
Arsenal by 8 |
|
Analysis: |
We haven't seen the Arsenal crew in a
while, yet I still think they are a much stronger team then the Streaks at
the moment, although despite a horrible record, a win against the
'mighty' Dawgs gives some promise that the Streaks can still be
contenders. According to Amarosa of Arsenal, these games should be
no problem as the two teams square off in the MSSF™'s first same-day
same-team doubleheader. Arsenal could easily be sitting at 3-0 after a
valiant come from behind effort against HID in Week 1 that failed. Look for
the 'good guys' to roll in this one. Will Lewter hit his first? |

Final: |
18 - 10 Arsenal |

Game: |
#10
Blue Streaks (1-3)
vs.
#3 Arsenal (2-1)
-4 |
Arsenal by 4 |
|
Analysis: |
Not sure what makes this one different
from the one above. Maybe a second game and the heat. Therefore, smaller
scores. |

Final: |
9 - 5 Arsenal |

Week 5 |
|
|
|
Game: |
#12
Toxic (1-4)
vs.
#2 Ball Hogs (4-0) |
Ball Hogs by 10 |
|
Analysis: |
Just keep fighting TOXIC...and whatever
you do take the team you have (do not fold after one season) and build
more chemistry ... you got some good chemistry and with those Hay boys
some nice bats. In my opinion, I think Jackie should be pitching,
but that's just my opinion. Ball Hogs too strong, Ruffin with 63
HRs in the game. |
|
Final: |
13 - 3 Ball Hogs |
|
|
|
Week 5 |
|
|
|
Game: |
#1 Simply Amazin' (4-0)
vs. #2 Ball Hogs (4-0) |
Simply Amazin' by 4 |
|
Analysis: |
Bells and whistles for this one.
Now this is what true champions are made of ... secure the number one
ranking and then the next week put it on the line against the number two
team. Let the Battle Begin. Simply Amazin' looked pretty
mediocre against a shorthanded Hit It Deep team, although some could
argue Hit It Deep just played simply amazing in adversity, but it wasn't
the barrage of runs and hits that we usually see from the boys and girls
in red. However, they get another test with the powerful Ball Hogs
who have torn through the MSSF™ like some wet toilet tissue, but like
the cheap generic kind, because tissues like Angel Soft or Quilted
Northern, especially the two-ply, now those are some thick tissues.
You could use them as Kleenex or paper towels, but they leave too much
of the white tissue residue behind and then you'll need your lint brush,
and lord knows don't go in a black light, because then everyone can see
all those white speckles and fuzzies on wherever you wiped the tissue.
When I go to the strip ... never mind. This will be a battle.
And although the Hogs are very good, the experience of SA and the MSSF™
game will make the difference. |

|
Game: |
#13 Carolina Ale House (1-5)
vs.
#1 Simply Amazin (4-0) |
Simply Amazin' by 10 |

Analysis: |
If this goes past 4 (maybe 5) innings,
something is not right in the universe. |
|
Final: |
19 - 2 Simply Amazin' |

|
Week 5 |
|
|
|
Game: |
#7
Balls Deep (3-2)
vs. #8 Carolina Hit Machine (2-3) |
Balls Deep by 7 |
|
Analysis: |
The Hit Machine played Balls Deep much
tougher than I thought they would in Week 4 which shows that the CHM has
some potential to be a pretty good team. But the results of that
game were a loss and the results of this one will be the same.
Although Carlito loves when someone proves him wrong! |

Final: |
11 - 4 Balls Deep |
